Genetic-Algorithms-Based Fuzzy Call Admission Control for CDMA Cellular Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
Wireless personal communication systems grow very fast, and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system has become the key technology for multiple accesses in the third generation communication systems. Unlike conventional FDMA and TDMA systems, the capacity of CDMA is limited by the interference. Moreover, the quality of the wireless communications varies with the terrain and the location, and thus it is difficult to make decisions for call admissions. In the paper, a call admission control (CAC) scheme is proposed to adapt to the changing wireless network conditions for CDMA systems. Due to the fuzzy logic control has the capability to make decisions under the ill-defined network environment, the proposed CAC scheme is based on the fuzzy logic control, where the fuzzy rule sets and the membership functions are obtained by using genetic algorithms to achieve the near-optimal solution. Simulation results show that, even at the heavy load, the proposed CAC policy is capable of guaranteeing the dropping probability of handoff calls to meet a predefined value. Call Admission Control for Reducing Dropped Calls in Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) Cellular Systems
Call admission control algorithms that reduce dropped calls in CDMA cellular systems are discussed in this paper. The capacity of a CDMA system is confined by interference of users from both inside and outside of the target cell. Earlier algorithms for call admission control is based on the effective traffic load for the target cell if one call is accepted. These algorithms ignore the interfere...

CDMA systems have so-called soft capacity, so the total number of possible sessions has not an exact value. The capacity of CDMA system depends on the interference level in the system. There are therefore RRM (Radio Resources Management) functions, which are responsible for supplying optimum coverage, ensuring efficient use of physical resources and providing the maximum planned capacity. This ...

Soft handoff in CDMA cellular system increases system capacity as compared to hard handoff as interference is reduced by transmitting signals as lower power level. A CDMA cellular system involving voice and data calls is considered in this paper. The model proposed in this paper is for data and voice services (Bi-class). It is based on reservation for handoff voice and data calls along with cal...
